Miller was awarded the 1996 Governor’s Entrepreneurial
Schools Award as a leading school in North Carolina. Our
school was one of eight applicants from across the state
that was visited by members of the Teacher Advisory
Committee. Selection for the N. C. Entrepreneurial Award was
based on high test scores, character education, physical
fitness, student, and parent satisfaction. The advising
committee toured each of the schools, evaluating every
aspect of the school. E. E. Miller stood out in the
following areas: Site Based Management, FAME (Volunteer
Programs), Business Collaborations, Grant writing,
GEO-Bears, Gross Motor Room, Pet Parlor, First Union Kids’
Bank, Mastery Learning, Cooperative Learning, Multiage
